Our
manufacturing facility is located near the mountains in
beautiful British Columbia.
The combined facilities employ over 100 employees -
each person contributing their skills and service in
the manufacturing process of Fire Smart Roofing Treatment.
Our process delivers high-quality products and services
specially prepared for treaters. Homeowners benefit for
years to come from the beauty, durability, and enjoyment
of their homes built with cedar shakes and cedar shingles.
The process begins with the Western Red Cedar logs that
are transported to the majority of mills by water.
Next, the logs are connected to a cable called a "choker-line" and
are then pulled up a log slip to enter the mill.
Each log is cut to a specified length according to the
type of product that is to be manufactured at the time.
The wood slabs are split into manageable pieces and
sorted.
Shakes, are split on one side by a "cuber-man." The
shake-blank is trimmed on each side to make it parallel.
The product is then fed through a resaw machine that
saws shake into pieces.
Shingles are sawn on both sides for a smoother, more
uniform look. These operators require extensive experience
in order to operate this machine properly.
The shakes and shingles are then graded and packed into
bundles.
The finished products are placed on pallets and then shipped
to thousands of distribution yards all over the world.
